Welcome

PRESIDENTS REPORT OCTOBER 2025

Following the induction of two new members at our last September meeting – Sandra Smithers and Maxine Withnall – I am indeed very pleased to report that we shall induct another three new members at this meeting Anne Gray, Margaret Clarke and Alan Richards. Our membership continues to grow – now-85.
I much regret to record the recent passing of our loyal member of some 10 years Cyril Bennell. May I convey our sincere condolences to his wife Bev and family.
Our Annual Christmas Dinner is booked into the new venue of Cromer Golf Course where we have enjoyed numerous excellent functions. The date is Tuesday 9th December 2025> and booking are now open.
We are still looking for several volunteers to represent our Club at PSPL level who are organising a number of festivities across the country to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Probus in Australia.
Our recent Trivia Quiz and lunch held on Wednesday 24th September 2025 at the Belrose Hotel was a great hit and very well attended. Our organiser Rob Beaton is to be congratulated. Rob has agreed to organise similar events in the future as such events obviously appeal to many members.
Our new Craft Group recently formed by Paula Diamond has got off to a good start and already held its first get-together. Paula will present her report this morning. I now call upon further volunteers to start more new interest groups.
We still need a few volunteers to assist our older members who are no longer driving, with car-lifting to both meetings and functions. Please let Cindy Ventris know if you are willing to assist.
As you are aware, the Constitution of our club has been reviewed by our sub-committee of two – Rob Beaton and Graham Reinthal. This was discussed at our recent Committee Meeting and I shall shortly circularise members in this regard.
A scenic day walk from the Spit to Manly is being planned. Tom Keating has postponed it to March or April next year.
A luncheon is to be held on Thursday 23rd October 2025 at the Forest Hotel. This has been a popular venue in the past and members should indicate their interest to Gerard de Jong on Mob 0404-049-297
A $2.50 Club outing to Davistown RSL Club is being organised – either in November or next February. We shall train to Woy Woy Station, cross the road to the ferry and sail to Davistown on Brisbane Water. Then a short walk or club bus to the venue for a seniors’ lunch. Again, this has been a very popular outing.
A reminder that TEA at our November meeting will be the traditional “Special Cream Scones” treat – not to be missed !
Finally, please remember to assist with our Membership drive – so please bring a relative or friend along as your guest to our next meeting.
